Certified Management Accountant is a globally recognized professional program in Finance promoted by Institute of Management Accountants (IMA),USA (www.imanet.org). IMA is an independent body established in 1919.

The complete course is divided into two parts as mentioned below with six topics under each part.

Exams

Each part has one online exam of four hours with questions asked from all the six topics. The pattern of the exam would be 100 Multiple choice questions and 2 simulation /essay questions. The mode of exam is online. Multiple choice questions will have options and for simulation questions, an average between 8 and 12 sub questions would be asked for which the candidate has to type the answer as per requirement. The best part of the exam is there is no negative marking.

The exams are held three times in a year during the below months that are called exam windows

Jan-Feb Window

May-June Window

Sep-Oct Window

The candidate has to schedule the exam during the above mentioned exam windows at a prometric testing centre. There are around 11 testing centres available in India. 

The candidate to qualify the exam has to score minimum 360 Marks out of 500 in each part, nearly 72%.

As the parts are independent parts and not levels, there is no specific restriction of going part wise. As per the interest and ease of the candidate, he/she is open to take up the exam of any part or both the parts during the exam window.

The results of the exam take minimum four to six weeks to be released.

Generally As per IMA, a candidate gets 3 years time from the date of applying for membership to qualify CMA USA both papers which means around nine attempts in which the candidate has to take minimum 1 attempt of any part within an year of registering with IMA.

Certification

CMA USA certification is can be received from IMA once the candidate completes the following process

1. 1. Graduation
2. 2. Qualify both the papers of CMA USA
3. 3. Gain two years of experience in Finance and accounts profile 

(Note: The experience could be before taking up the CMA USA or post CMA)

1. 4. Complete the CPE credits
